BLAZERS WIN 2024 VILL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Victoria Blazers concluded the 2024 Vancouver Island Lacrosse League season with a 2-0 victory in a "winner takes all" overtime mini-game to become the VILL Champions!

The Blazers were undefeated in playoff play and the Victoria Jokers needed a win in the first game on Championship night to take the Blazers to the mini-game. In a close game the entire evening, the Jokers win Game #1 by the score of 5-4 to even the double-knockout round series, tied at 1 game a piece.

With a 5 minute break, a 20 minute mini-game started. Both teams got their chances early, with the Blazers scoring 2 goals on their first 3 possessions but the Jokers couldn't find the back of the net on Blazers goalie, Rob Wood. The remainder of the game had both teams go back and forth with opportunities but neither offence could muster any kind of further attack and the goalies reigned supreme.
